Our History
W.J.L Engineering was established in 1985 by Richard Trevor Downing and Jean Downing in our first unit at Cox’s Lane, Cradley Heath, employing just 2 members of staff.
Now operating out of Sapcote trading centre in Cradley Heath, daily running is overseen by Lee and Jason Downing. WJL now employs close to 30 staff members, with several having been with the company for over 25 years.
W.J.L Engineering LTD is a premier specialist non-standard fasteners manufacturer
based in the heart of the Black Country, supplying fasteners in a variety of materials and specifications, nationally.
We machine non-standard and specialist fasteners including:
- Capscrews
- Socket setscrews
- Bolts
- Nuts
- Dowels
- Stud bolts
To any specification or to bespoke customer drawings, in all grades of material including exotics.
Our workshop houses over 35 specialist machines, ranging from conventional capstan lathes and Steinle thread rolling right through to modern sliding head and CNC’S with a capacity of up to 3” diameter.
We are always looking to invest in the workshop and over recent years have acquired the following machinery, with more to come this year;
– 7 STAR SR-32J’s
– 12 CNC’s including Doosan & Hyundai
– 2 Trishul polygon milling machines
